As a parent you want the best for your child. You want to make sure your child is healthy and grows up to his or her fullest potential. One thing quite a few parents of growing children worry about is whether or not their child gets enough calcium. After all, calcium is one of the main components that grows and strengthens bones. And we all know that your kids nutritional needs aren’t always completely met by the foods we can get them to eat. Here are some tips to make sure your child is getting enough calcium.
- Encourage them to drink a glass of milk or chocolate milk each day.
- For breakfast, serve cold or hot cereal with milk, or make oatmeal with milk instead of water.
- Make smoothies from yogurt, milk and frozen fruits like strawberries or bananas.
- Mix a few spoon fulls of dry milk powder into their peanut butter for extra rich peanut butter sandwiches with more calcium too.
- Offer yogurt with granola or fresh fruit dipped in yogurt for snacks.
- Crackers and cheese make for another good calcium rich snack.
